TotalEnergies announced €2.15-a-litre diesel at 705 Access stations from October 31. Its separate €2.25 ceiling applies across its French network: a maximum, not a uniform pump price.1
From November 2, its other non-motorway stations are to pass through the strategic-stock benefit according to international diesel markets. The release specifies no end date for the Access price. We have not checked individual retail pumps.1
The government is releasing ten million barrels and says pump-price changes will arrive progressively as each distribution network refills its tanks. It requires the financial benefit to reach customers and be displayed. A national review with distributors is planned for November 3. This rollout policy is separate from a retailer's advertised price.2
Bloomboff's take
A price cap isn't a pump price. Read the bloody station sign.
