Bloomberg's November 2 X post reported the Nasdaq 100 10% below its October peak, calling it a technical correction.1 Bloomboff has not reconstructed its peak or reference level. This isn't a confirmed closing quote.

Start an illustration at 100. A 10% fall leaves 90. A subsequent 10% gain adds nine, not ten, leaving exactly 99.

From 90, returning to 100 requires (100/90 - 1) × 100 = 11.111…%, or about 11.1%. A percentage gain is measured from where that step starts: 90 here, not 100.

The model assumes an exact 10% decline; it doesn't reconstruct index levels or forecast a recovery.

We reviewed only the post.

Bloomboff's take

Percentages are bastards. They change the bloody denominator.
