Donald Trump has cancelled in-person rallies in Salina, Kansas, on October 31 and Dubuque, Iowa, on November 1, the final weekend before the November 3 midterms. Telephone campaigning is planned instead, Reuters reported on October 29.1

Kansas Republican Party chair Danedri Herbert and the Salina Airport Authority confirmed the Kansas cancellation to WIBW. The airport cited scheduling conflicts.2

Kansas GOP executive director Rob Fillion told WIBW that telephone events could let Trump reach more voters across several states. That is the party official’s explanation, rather than an independently established motive.2

In Iowa, a Republican statement reported by KWQC described the party as well placed in both states and confirmed the planned appearances would not proceed. It said Trump would hold a telephone rally for Iowa Republicans.3

Trump-aligned MAGA Inc plans telephone rallies in at least 19 states, including Kansas and Iowa, Reuters reported.1

The cancellations do not cover every rally. The official GOP events page still lists October 30 remarks at 7 p.m. Eastern at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.4
